Welcome to St. Vincent's University Hospital

St. Vincent’s University Hospital is an acute general and tertiary referral hospital located on the south side of Dublin City. It is a voluntary hospital and was founded by the Religious Sisters of Charity in 1834.

The hospital has recently been incorporated as a Limited Company under the governance of a Board of Directors. It has in excess of 40 medical specialities, a staff of over 2000 and an annual budget in excess of €150 million. The hospital has an in-patient complement of 479 beds. These include 5-day, day-care, intensive care, high dependency and coronary care beds, as well as medical, surgical, orthopaedic, care of the elderly and psychiatry beds. Trusteeship of St. Michael's Hospital, Dun Laoghaire was also transferred to St. Vincent's University Hospital Limited.

St. Vincent’s University Hospital has strong educational links with the Faculty of Medicine at University College Dublin at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The hospital is nearing completion of a major redevelopment programme at a cost of €220 million. As a result of the development, many new facilities will become operational over the next year.
