St. Luke’s is Ireland’s only specialist oncology hospital, providing advanced radiotherapy and other oncology services. The hospital is located in attractive surroundings in Rathgar, on the south side of Dublin city , adjacent to Rathmines and Terenure.
The hospital has a full range of state-of-the-art radiotherapy treatment facilities. Over the years, the hospital has become renowned for its caring ethos, providing services and facilities for patients from all over the country. Services were provided to over 5,000 new patients in 2004. The rising numbers of treatment and pre-treatment radiotherapy episodes (exceeding 80,000 in 2004) reflect demand on the service and the increased complexity of the treatment.
The hospital has a complement of 179 beds with four inpatient wards, a busy day unit and a five-day unit (Oakland Lodge), which facilitates independent patients receiving treatment.
